# What is API endpoint?

An API endpoint is a specific URL (address) where an API provides a particular resource or operation.

#### Example

Suppose we have an e-commerce API:

```
https://shop.com/api/products
```

The browser might request:

```
GET /api/products/123
```

The API could respond with JSON:

```json
{  
   "id": 123,  
   "name": "iPhone 15",  
   "price": 299000,  
   "available": true
}
```

The frontend then displays that information to the user.
